Dr. Newsome then attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC, where he received his BS in Medicine in 3 years. His internship was performed at UNC-CH,  as well as his General Surgery and Otolaryngology.  He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and also the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Newsome has been specializing in Cosmetic Surgery since 1972 and has been the Director of Cosmetic Surgery in Wilson, NC since 1989.  He is an  active member of the North Carolina Medical Society. He also devotes himself to many charitable causes.  He is an avid boater, hunter and fisherman, and enjoys  playing golf.  He and his wife, Camala, reside in Wilson.  Dr. Newsome has one son, George.
